ABOUT ROTARY CLUB OF DELHI SOUTH WEST:
This Service Club was chartered under Rotary International Dist 3010, on 1st Oct 1985 by Charter President Rajan Kochhar (our guiding light). Year after year it has ever been serviced by quite a bunch of motivated Rotarians, as leaders. These include 35 past presidents, including the present incumbent, who in their tenure each year have given unique leadership as per their individual strength, capacity, motivation, and temperament. Rotarians of the club and their families have considered our club, an extension of their immediate families; such is the beautiful fellowship amongst us in our joy and sorrow. Whether, it’s a Community Service Project, a Fellowship Dinner, Speaker Meeting or an Out-Station Trip, the bonding between members is amazing.
The Rotary main theme since the time Paul Harris founded ’Rotary International’ in cold Chicago down Town, has been "Service above Self". We have kept this theme like Gospel truth in mind, in all our Community Service projects. When since 1995, WHO took up safe Oral Polio drops for Zero to 5years kids, R.I. took it as their biggest challenge. Rotary Clubs all over the world joined. Our Govt at Center & States joined with full force.
Our club’s Rotarians initially carried Polio staff with their Polio chill boxes to the MCD Centers for delivery. Till Polio was eradicated on all Polio Ravivars, our club Rotarians were at the centers early mornings. It has continued even now. Then our club has helped at Rotary Blood Bank, Rotary Cancer Center, & even donated ambulances for Thalassemia patients.& for Old Age patients check-ups. During the appalling Pandemic, Club for the last two years has been serving food in Maa ki Rasoi to poor migrant labor who have suffered most. Our Blood Banks have collected ever since veteran Rotarian PDG who was later Gov of Uttarkhand) called to Rotarians "Donate blood as much that not one person should die for the shortage of blood".
In Rotary Vocational Service, we are educating underprivileged children to learn computers & accounting, to help them get their jobs to feed their families.
In International Service, we donate huge amounts to Rotary Foundation, for humanitarian projects the world over. Under Rotary Youth Services we are helping students to follow & carry our Rotary dreams in their adult life in our founded Interact & Rotract Clubs. We conduct Speaker Meetings, where learned speakers impart knowledge on Spirituality & humanism etc. Our Club strives to achieve a balanced interaction between Rotarians & family of Rotary..
